The Counsellors & Fees
We offer professional, confidential counselling service. We provide a safe and supportive place to address emotional and psychological difficulties.
We Work with issues such as:
We offer counselling to individual adults as well as having some slots for couples.
Contact us via email, phone or the website. We will then arrange an initial meeting to discuss your needs before allocating you to an appropriate counsellor. Sessions are available during the day and in the evening.
Counselling involves a weekly on to one session with the same counsellor. Establishing a trusting relationship with another person helps you to understand your problems, your feelings and how others react to you. This can lead to increased self confidence and helps to facilitate change.
Counselling is a way of enabling choice or change or reducing confusion. It does not involve advice or directing a client to take a particular course of action. Counsellors do not judge or exploit their clients in any way. Bottled up feelings such s anger, anxiety, grief and embarrassment can become very intense and counselling offers an opportunity to explore them, with the possibility of making them easier to understand. The counsellor will encourage he expression of feelings and as a result of their training will be able to accept and reflect the client’s problems without becoming burdened by them.
You are initially offered a 45 minute meeting. This helps introduce the counselling service to you and allows us to find out more about why you are seeking counselling, and how best we might proceed. There is a fee for this first meeting which is set individually for each client based on their income; this is the amount that is then paid for the weekly sessions.
Counselling sessions are available Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 8.00pm and also on Saturday mornings. The sessions are weekly and last for fifty minutes. We can offer counsellors for up to a year depending on your circumstances.
All our counsellors are volunteers who are either completing the final stages of their training programmes or are recently qualified. They all receive regular supervision, provided by the BCCS, and work to the Code of Ethics of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
We are committed to making counselling affordable for everyone in our community. Fees/concessions are agreed with you at your initial meeting, based on your individual circumstances.
